Mazen and I are house from our San Diego journey!

A few of you may keep in mind KK, Mazen’s dad’s mother, from the weblog. She moved to San Diego, then to New Orleans to be near her different son, after which again to San Diego final fall. She simply LOVES San Diego and is so completely satisfied to be again!

We met Mazen’s Uncle Andrew and his daughter there for five days to spend a while within the California solar. (We determined to not share pics of Mazen’s cousin, however that they had SUCH a good time collectively!)

What’s ironic is that Virginia had a warmth wave whereas we had been gone however we got here house with extra sunburn than we had been used to! We spent lots of time on the seaside and took the children to each the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld.

Journey Day

Mazen and I flew out final Saturday very first thing within the morning. He received to take a look at the Capital One Lounge and was a giant fan! Tried his first latte in an try and be fancy, however he didn’t take care of it. (Right here’s my submit on get into these fancy lounges! Saves us SO a lot cash on airport meals!)

We maximized our days by arriving at 10am Pacific Time, so we had the entire day forward of us.

California Informal

I modified out of my dirty journey garments into a pleasant informal outfit!

We settled in at KK’s home. She and I shared a room with twin beds whereas Mazen, his cousin and Andrew shared KK’s bed room.

We had somewhat lunch (which felt like dinner to us!) after which checked out the Mission Bay seaside a couple of blocks away. How good wouldn’t it be to have this seaside and strolling path as your yard!

Later that afternoon we headed over to an epic playground in Mission Seashore the place we loved being outdoors with out the East Coast humidity.

That night time, KK ready a rooster pasta dish with caesar salad and recent corn on the cob.

For dessert we made ice cream sundaes! That Butterfinger topping was so good.

Kayaking Journey

On Sunday morning, KK rented us two tandem kayaks to take out onto Mission Bay. She dropped us off on the rental place whereas she went to get her personal kayak from the yacht membership. We set out with a lot of sunscreen!

Our paddling took us beneath a bridge and over to an island swarming with birds.

We had been getting fairly drained, however we ended up taking the great distance round a big island searching for sea lions. We by no means did discover these sea lions however we did come again with very, very drained arms after 2.5 hours out on the water!

Burgers on the Seashore

As soon as we returned our kayaks, we walked over to the yacht membership the place KK is a member. We grilled burgers for lunch there and relaxed on the seaside for a couple of hours whereas the children performed.

French Beef

Again on the home, we showered and cooked French beef (a KK basic recipe) with broccoli for dinner.

In Search Of Acai

We began day-after-day with some French press espresso

The opposite occasions I’ve come to San Diego (the final time I used to be pregnant with Birch!) I’ve liked strolling alongside the Mission Bay seaside boardwalk and getting acai bowls. KK lives a bit additional away from the ocean (she’s in Pacific Seashore for the locals) and so I took an extended stroll to seek out The Mad Beet the place I received a terrific bowl!

Zoo Day

After breakfast we “greased up” with sunscreen (as KK says!) and headed to the San Diego Zoo!

Lunch

We packed sandwiches and chips to have as a picnic lunch. Not solely did this save us cash, however it was nice to have the ability to eat proper once we felt prefer it.

We walked over six miles everywhere in the zoo and nonetheless didn’t see every part!
